Origins:

Kayla McDonagh is a Classically trained wedding singer originally from Connemara, Co. Galway.

Education

Kayla’s training in Classical Music began at age 11 and obtained an Honours Bachelor Degree in Music from the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama in Dublin in 2018. She is furthering her studies at Masters level in Music Education in University of Limerick. Kayla’s other academic achievements to date include multiple grades from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music London, in singing and music theory.

Experience:

Kayla was an original member of the RTE Concert Orchestra Chorus  from 2015 to 2017 and has performed in the National Concert Hall Dublin as well as the Bord Gais Energy Theatre, where she was a guest soloist for The RTE Concert Orchestra’s live performance of The Gladiator score. Kayla’s solo performances include:

  • The ESB Feis Ceoil Gala Concert
  • Tribal Chamber Choir
  • International Tour with the Galway Gospel Choir
  • Spirit of Voice Festival

as well as multiple appearances on TG4 which include ‘Abair Amhrain’, ‘Immeall’ and most recently, ‘Roisin’. In December of 2017 Kayla had the privilege of being the special guest for Opry Le Daniel’s Big Tom special which was presented by Daniel O’Donnell and recored in the Millennium Forum in Derry for TG4. Kayla is also regularly featured on Radio na Gaeltachta, The Irish Times and Galway Bay FM.

Awards:

Kayla is also a multi award winning vocalist having won numerous awards from the Arklow Music festival as well as receiving the “Vocal Rose-Bowl Award” from the ESB Feis Ceoil – which is the highest award throughout all vocal competitions in the Feis. Other awards include the Martin Demspey Cup for Irish song.

Versatility:

As well as being classically trained, Kayla is fluent in all styles of singing including Jazz and being a native Irish speaker – Irish music. This means she is one of the most versatile wedding singers in the country and can incorporate multiple styles for your special day. Kayla’s years of experience also allows her to easily adapt practically any song (pop, rock, other) into her own unique style that makes it fit flawlessly into a church or ceremony setting – giving it a tender, acoustic feel.

The Irish Vocal Academy:
